Shelby Earl’s debut solo album, Burn the Boats, “is made up of 12 original indie-rock folk songs with recurrent themes of reclaiming lost loves, reaching for the unattainable and waking up one’s own life after a long slumber.” The album title reflects how Earl came to make the album, putting the past behind her and risking everything for something greater. In Shelby’s words, the album is “a true reflection of where I’ve, and more importantly, where I’m headed.”
NPR music critic Ann Powers suggest that Earl recalls the sounds of legendary Patsy Cline and contemporary artists like Jenny Lewis and Brandi Carlile. The debut album will be released on November 1st.
