On Sunday, Spoon ended their U.S. Spring 2008 tour in Lawrence. Performing in front of a sold out crowd at Liberty Hall, the band performed some 20 songs, including two encores. Highlights included a mind-blowing performance of "The Ghost of You Lingers" and flawless performances of "Finer Feelings" and "You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb."

My friends and I had the chance to talk to the band after the show and they were all very down-to-earth. We spent the most time talking to Jim Eno about his upcoming projects and friends Via Audio.

Art in Manila, the new band from former Azure Ray singer Orenda Fink, is embarking on a tour that features dates with Rilo Kiley and the Good Life. In fact, for Rilo Kiley's tour, Orenda Fink will be a member of Rilo Kiley's live band , playing guitars and keyboards, singing...even doing some trumpet work!

The band is promoting their debut LP, Set the Woods on Fire.

Sonic Youth's landmark 1988 album Daydream Nation will be reissued on June 12th. The reissue contains two-cd deluxe edition featuring bonus disc of unreleased live material and hard-to-find covers.

Living with the Living's street date (March 20) is just weeks away and Ted Leo and the Pharmacists' spring tour is hot on its heels. To help prepare for this cross-country trek, Ted and Co. welcomed former Pharmacist James Canty (Nation of Ulysses, The Make Up) back into the line up.

On March 28, Ted, Dave, Chris, and James will commence their 2007 spring tour at the Theatre of the Living Arts in Philadelphia. M. Ward will be opening shows for Norah Jones in April and May. According to his label Merge Records, the first single off of Ward's Post-War album will be 'To Go Home', with a release date of February 20th.

Tour: The Broken West

After a strong EP debut, the Broken West have high hopes for their newly released album I Can't Go On, I'll Go On.

From their label, Merge Records: Their debut is a power-pop gem, shimmering and cool, with sharp edges and soaring melodies. The record deals with eternal themes of isolation, distance, and the longing for a center—a sense of place—in this topsy-turvy world. The Kinks, Big Star, and The Byrds, as well as more contemporary favorites like Spoon, Wilco, and Teenage Fanclub are certainly touchstones, but The Broken West's winning songs stand on their own.
