Kanrocksas Preview: Ume

**The third installment of posts featuring a look at some of the non-headlining acts at Kanrocksas. Check the first two here and here.**

Drawing comparisons to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Metric and Sonic Youth, Ume (pronounced “ooo-may”) is led by Lauren Langner Larson (who is actually married to the bass player, Eric Larson) on guitar and vocals. The Austin, Texas trio is releasing their sophomore LP, Phantoms, in August and seems ready to make some noise on the national music scene.

Lauren has been described as a “willowy guitar demon” and, from reading many Austin music blogs, the band doesn’t disappoint with their live shows.  They have an “abrasive yet bewitching style that simultaneously pays homage to their punk roots while inciting a future generation of rock and roll.” Ume is bringing it’s act to the Stageasaurus Rex Stage at 2:10 P.M. next Friday.
